Just came back from the show :) and couldn't help but sit down and jot down some of my musings :) :)
A simple story playing around human emotions and really well defined characters. What I really liked about the movie was all the characters were well defined during the course of the movie. the comic timing was too good.. I just couldn't stop myself from laughing and falling off the seat. hahaha.. At one point the lady sitting next to me was amused to see me laughing off my seats .. lolz ..Imran Khan is a treat to the eyes and I liked his laugh.. really long long laughs ...
The movie touches the parent child relationship in two ways. The first kind is the cool parents. Parents who just know how to put in the matter before their children in an absolutely acceptable way. There is this incident where both jai and aditi are shocked when aditi's parents are asking them to get married! and when they realise that the two friends don't love eachother they just burst out laughing like kids.. but after a hearty laugh they put across their thoughts which prompts the two friends to seek out partners for themselves.
Then there is another kind where all love is lost out between the parents and kid bears all the burnt- Meghna's parents. I guess its the story in majority of Indian household! People realise they don't love eachother and bear along with long abusive fights affecting the kid in due course. In this case Meghna shuts the whole reality and starts living her life including the harsh reality of her parents in her own imaginary world! She would pick up anything and imagine what it might not be... For concrete mixer to banyan tree... At first she refuses to believe Jai is in love with Aditi, which went with the character defined about her. But her realisation and reaction to it wasn't etched out well.
The parent-child relationship is very much sensitive( mind you its not emotional). A kid being in formative stages can't handle alot of things. So it comes down to parents to become sensitive of their kids emotional needs. I don't know how many people can really differentiate being sensitive and being emotional or rather relate themselves to being sensitive or emotional! My opinion is being sensitive requires alot of courage since it involves accepting anothers emotional needs which at times can be conflicting. While being emotional is just relating to one's own feelings and reacting accordingly! now tat's very self-oriented.. and the irony is thats how most of us are the latter- though we never realise it! Parents need to look over their needs to kids emotional needs.. unlearn everything and learn it again with their kid.. unconditional love, open senses with sensitiveness to emotional needs of their kid..
Now back to central characters - Jai and Aditi. Two friends too much engrossed in themselves who don't realise they are in love. They go out and seek partners. But its the absence of eachother and the possessivness for eachother that makes them realise what they feel for eachother! Its shown that their partners desert them upon realising the truth and then they go ahead to accepting their feelings. Again too bollywoodish hahaha... If this was a real life story their partners wouldn't have left them and a meghna story would have ensued! Everybody is meghna shutting themselves out from reality and just living life in others terms. And yes that being together isn't just about being in love or attraction! It's a lot more..
The point I am driving to is. Know thyself and be rooted! Sit back and enjoy the ride of life :) Life isn't a cupcake.. In fact its the rich creamy cake. You need to know how to eat it or u r definitely getting messed up dude :)
The comic timing is too good in the movie. Be it Jigi with his hilarous gujju accent and eccentricities like his surprise party :) be it rotlu with his coke on the rocks hahaha and getting a high on that( oh my god help me!!!) the salman khan bros pvt ltd duo's eccentric behaviour - Ranjhor ke Rathod (ab hum ladke se mard bane hain) hahaha or the nasrudeen shah's in the pic commentary :) Aditi's craziness ( shok sabha for her cat ).. or her crazy bro and extremely talented artist :) Piggy and pumpkins hehe.. the "it" song Papu can't dance saala with the hilarous dance steps esp the hen flapping one lolz.. Imran Khan almost always Meowing lolz (reminded me of my friends callin me a cat hehe)
All well done and trust Aamir Khan to come up with a movie worth watching a dozen times :) :)
Competition to Collaboration
-
I’m rambling again on a topic that will always arouse me. Competition vs.
collaboration. Admittedly, competition stretches one to the limit. And
corporate ...
